Meet the Pixers is our blog series where we introduce you to the talented folks who make our company a success. Today, we’re featuring our Account Manager, Michael Reiber.
Tell us a little bit about your background:
Music has always been a big part of my life, even as a kid growing up in a town on Detroit’s east side I’ve been all about music. So whenever/wherever I can I like to find ways to incorporate music into life. I love interviewing music artists and learning about their creativity in songwriting. It’s become my biggest passion, and I host a show on YouTube where I post all of the interviews. I started my career in media as a Strategy Associate at the Starcom agency in 2019 in NYC. I worked on a couple CPG brands and then started at Pixability as an Account Manager last year. I’ve always loved YouTube because it gives anyone the ability to have a platform, so getting the opportunity to work in it and add to it is a lot of fun. In my free time I’m playing soccer, being outside, going to shows, spending time with friends/family, or watching Detroit Red Wings hockey. It would take me too long to list my favorite music artists so I’ll just say this: anything that moves me!
What is the last thing you watched on YouTube?
The Jack White x Zane Lowe interview that just came out, it’s great! Zane Lowe is one of my favorite interviewers because he has a unique and subtle way of weaving the artist’s lyrics into the questions he asks that makes the interview feel more like a conversation about life through the lens of lyrics rather than “why did you write this song the way you did?”.
What is the best career advice you have ever received?
The best investments you will ever make are in yourself.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in their career?
Be open minded, but go with your gut. I’ve found that I’ve never regretted a time when I’ve been open minded in my career. I either learn, gain, or grow from it in some way. The trick to this advice is that you know what is best for yourself, and only you can make the right decisions for yourself. So be open minded and try new things because you never know what opportunities are out there and what you might love, but also be fair to yourself and know who you are.
